Who can take MARI– the Assessment and/or the Training?

MARI assessments:
MARI is a non-verbal and non-threatening assessment tool used primarily for ages fourteen and up.

While MARI’s basic application requires a more mature and abstract level of cognitive ability, we do have practitioners that have adapted MARI based on their personal experience working with Autism and children under the age 14y.

If you are interested in getting a MARI assessment, you may schedule with any MARI practitioner or teacher listed on our website. The typical cost of a one-time (1.0-2.0 hour) assessment experience with MARI is around $100.00 per hour.

MARI training:
MARI is recommended for mental health professionals at the Master level. With few exceptions, other related fields may be considered with a minimum of a 4 year degree and additional training and/or experience.

Where do I get training?

The training dates and venues of MARI trainings are not always visible on our website. Teachers are encouraged to post their training scheduled, but there are situations where this does not occur.

If you are not seeing a training schedule that meets your needs listed, you can contact the MARI Teacher that is nearest your location or contact the MARI coordinator, Jill Rogers at jill@expmari.com, 724-699-9056.

If you are ready to sign up for a video training, you can go to the registration page and pick one of the teachers listed.  These teacher are the most active and usually have several classes a year. they will be able to keep you updated on the specifics of their next class.  If they are not able to meet your need an alternate MARI Teacher may be assigned. You are encouraged to contact any of our MARI Teachers for more information on their training and schedules.

There is also an Asynchronistic training available with our affiliate, Moringa Institute at: https://moringainstitute.com/course/mari-practitioner-certification-apply

How does the training work?

The INTENSIVE
You will learn the basics of utilizing the MARI materials that include working with the mandala and the MARI symbol and color cards. Learning is supported by the MARI manual, PowerPoint presentations, and interactions with your MARI Teacher and other trainees in the live or online class format. This is approximately 16-18 hours of training and varies depending on class size and the additional information that some teachers integrate from their other area of expertise. We have MARI Teachers that also specialize in GIM, Sand Play, NLP, EMDR and other specialties that blend well with MARI and may be included some of the aspects of their program in addition to the MARI core training.  You will receive the infomation you need to begin to do MARI practice sessions toward your full certification.

SUPERVISION
Practice is very important. The more you do MARI, the more you understand it. For this reason there is a mandatory supervision step to complete your full MARI Certification.

For full MARI Certification, 8 MARI/mandala sessions must be completed and submitted to your teacher, and two or three of these will be presented in a supervision session. These are usually conducted online even if your training was conducted in a live group setting. These online supervision sessions are usually initiated a few weeks after the MARI training is completed and may be spread out over several months. Trainees have up to a full year to complete this step.

MASTER PRACTITIONER STATUS

This is a new level of Certification for MARI Practitioners. It requires some advanced training/experience, a teacher’s recommendation, and at least one year of full certification.  We have found over the years that there are dedicated MARI practitioners that want to advance their learning, conduct research, and/or contribute to the expansion of MARI’s evolution and development.  We created this advanced level of MARI Certification to meet this need without the additional need to meet and maintain the requirements of a MARI Teacher’s contract.

TEACHER TRAINING
Teacher training is currently an evolving process. You must have a masters degree in a mental health field and obtained the level of Master Practitioner. In addition, least 1 additional year of experience as a Master MARI Practitioner, submit proof of completing 50 MARI sessions, and complete an application process and interview with the MARI Administration to be considered for the MARI Certified MARI Teacher Program.

This is an independent and contracted position.  MARI Teachers are responsible for creating and promoting their trainings and also meet the reporting and documenting requirements of their MARI Contract.

How much does it cost?

MARI INTENSIVE TRAINING – Online – $1100.00-1500.00 and includes supervision for full certification. (does not include materials)

MARI LIVE TRAINING -Tuition costs are variable -depending on numerous factors such as whether or not practicum is included, the teacher is renting space, early registration savings, etc. Typically the live trainings cost between $800.00 -$1200.00 for the training only (this does not include materials or supervision fees toward requirement for full certification)

MATERIALS FEE -$370.00 plus shipping – Materials include MARI cards, Great Round board, scoring pads, the MARI manual, white felt cloth, oil pastels, and tote bag. When you purchase MARI materials, you are purchasing licensed and copy-written materials that are not available to the public and can only be purchased as part of a training program.

What are the options for training?

Virtual Classroom – The student receives their materials and completes their personal MARI before their first class. they have the opportunity to share and interact with the teacher and other students from all over the world.  Classes are limited to 8 maximum and usually around 4-5 people –so they are very personal. This is the most prevalent training option used today.

Live Training – The student receives their materials and completes their personal MARI as the first step in their training on the first day of class.  These are becoming more challenging to offer due to travel expenses for a teacher and usually require larger classes of 10-20 people that be less personal. There are still opportunities that are usually sponsored by universities or agencies but are becoming less frequent.

Asynchronistic Training – This is our newest option where a student can learn MARI on their own time within structured time frames that still has a live interaction component with a MARI Teacher.  This format is available exclusively through the Moranga Institute and provides CEUs for many licensure requirements.  Please see the detail of this training at: https://moringainstitute.com/course/mari-practitioner-certification-apply

We will come to you if you wish to host a MARI training.  Contact the MARI Coordinator, Jill Rogers, at jill@expmari.com or (724)699-9056

Why is MARI training so special?

Perhaps the most important reason why MARI is so special is because it is rooted in ‘wholeness’ with the ability to ‘see and feel’ their potential to move forward, grow, and evolve in a personal growth journey.

The training is experientially designed to focus on the student first by completing their own MARI self exploration process.

The training involves your whole brain:

The left brain is activated with information about color, symbol and stage. The manual includes color pages to support a stronger visual connection to the colors.  There is narrative as well as important ‘bullets points’ to support easy access to the core information that will support the administration and feedback steps with clients.

The right brain is fully engaged in a creative and intuitive function with the creation of a mandala and choosing the MARI symbol and color cards. MARI activates the ‘sensing’ function, tapping into the unconscious in a way that it is deeply personal and often emotional.

Refund and Grievance Policy

Any person who is not satisfied with the MARI training or materials may contact the MARI Coordinator, Jill Rogers, at jill.expmari.com or (724)699-9056 to discuss any issue. In most cases, a partial refund for tuition (80%) will be issued to the student upon return of the materials that will be refunded at the same 80% if they are complete and in good condition.

Any training materials that are received and deemed less than satisfactory in quality will be replaced at no cost to the student.

Cancellation and Refund policy

A class may be cancelled if the number of students does not meet the expectations of the teacher. Students who have pre-registered will be notified. Students who have paid a partial or full deposit will have all monies for materials and tuition refunded.

Students, who have signed up for a live class that is cancelled for any reason, will have the opportunity to attend the live on-line classes that are accessed via computer and held on a regular basis, if they desire.
